( CHARACTER INFORMATION )
- ★ NAME: Gavroche Thenardier
- ★ AGE: 12
- ★ CANON POINT: Post-death
- ★ CANON INFORMATION: Les Misérables

- ★ PERSONALITY: Gavroche is not an ordinary child. Not by out standards in the least--his life story, while short, proves he has a bold personality that's hard to forget. Raised by the streets and not a father and mother (though he does not resent the Thenardiers), Gavroche at first glance looks like your typical street urchin--the 12 year old is mischievous and full of ingenuity. In fact, he's such a clever young boy that he not only found a way into the Elephant of the Bastille, but developed a system to keep the rats from gnawing at him in his sleep--one that doesn't involve a cat, but instead a system of sheets, rocks and copper wiring.

He's certainly smarter than he looks, if that trap is anything to go by. He's quite observant as well, tending to notice things before others, or pointing out things rather loudly. In that same vain he can also be surprisingly philosophical--the book describes him as a thinker, and quite the heavy one at that. There's no doubt why he joined up with Enjolras' little revolution: he sees hope and change and naturally gravitates to that.

As with most gamin, Gavroche is very hardy, incredibly stubborn, and has hardened immensely. Surprisingly, there's still very much an innocent quality about him--but more often than not, instead of outright displaying it he buries in compassion. He adopts other, greener urchins and despite calling them 'brats' he genuinely cares for them--to the point of giving them larger pieces of bread he obtains despite not having eaten in days. He's also has been known to be sympathetic in this case--such as pickpocketing Montparnasse and giving the purse to an old, impoverished man who later helped with the barricade.

Despite being on the streets and considering himself an orphan, he is also quite the rambunctious little boy. His thoughts flick from subject to subject, handy for one who needs to assess the situations of the street--and he loves to explore and is quite adventurous, the reason why he knows the alleys and backstreets of Paris like the back of his hand. He has quite the mouth on him, and isn't afraid to quip or give a clever retort back to policeman or people older than him. More surprisingly, said retort will often be quite witty.

Though life on the streets is tough, he's very gentle towards others he believes deserves it--he's also brave, bold, and unafraid of the world at large. He literally sings in the face of danger--the only way he stops is a bullet striking him as he's collecting gunpowder from the dead bodies beyond the barricade. This also proves he's damned confident, and despite his urchin status, he has quite high self-esteem, no doubt carrying him when he survives on the street. While not quite an optimist, and as stated before with his philosophic way of thinking, Gavroche realizes that not everything is black and white--that while he's captivated by this sense of revolution, and this sense of freedom which he values above all else, that people are still people, He has no problems helping a National Guard member with his horse on his way to make a barricade, for example.

He's incredibly animated, likened to that of a bird--and similarly, his personality reflects this. The main part of him as mentioned previous, and who he is truly at his core, is someone who values freedom. He's an inspiration to the barricade because of this--and he still has that desire to soar. Maybe not to do great things--which he does do thanks to his quick-thinking and thirst for knowledge--but more to have the ability to do what he wants when he wants. In a way, this can be seen as the reasoning behind the fact that he doesn't resent the Thenardiers for giving him up--because he's achieved something he values.

That being said, he is no saint. He's fond of destroying property to prove a point, and his morals can be quite dubious at times. A Thenardier by blood even if he doesn't really associate with any of them (except perhaps Eponine), Gavroche's life on the streets has furthered the mentality of 'something for you, something for me.' While he can be compassionate for others, yes, it's more often than not he'll take your wallet if you look the other way too long. He'll do what you want him to--for a price.
- ★ COURT ALLIANCE: Seelie. Gavroche, despite his ragamuffin exterior and extraordinary penchant to steal and take what he needs from others, will always be a good person at heart. He would honestly fit a lot better in here, because while he does believe in passion before duty and that at times he has also realized that if one were to use that to a fault, one would most likely become Monsieur or Madame Thenardier and he is extremely opposed to that. He sees beauty in everything, and will certainly fight for what he believes is his duty--honour doesn't mean much, but being a champion of the poor certainly does.
- ★ ABILITIES: Gavroche has quite a lot of skills for quite a young person. The majority of which he uses due to the fact that he is gamin, or a street urchin. He's learned how to make basic shelter out of nothing, and is quite well-versed in taking what isn't his when he doesn't have the means to pay, which is often. On the same note, he's an exceptional pickpocket--he managed to snatch the purse of M. Montparnasse, one of four criminal leaders in Paris. He's also well-versed in bird-calls to use as warnings for other thieves.

As he is a 12 year old, and is wont to do what most 12 year olds do and climb, Gavroche is nimble, quick, and spry despite his thin frame and raggedy appearance. He's scaled the Bastille Elephant on a bi-daily basis, if not more, with no need for a ladder. He can also see fairly well in dim and dark areas, needing no candle to know the way, and finding no problem working through the smoke of the grape-shots at the Barricade. Because of all of this, he makes an excellent scout and has saved the Barricade more than a few times before his untimely fate.

During the time spent in the barricade, he has canonically taken great interest the ability to melt down metal and make bullets with them, and it is inferred he has even made a couple. Gavroche is still a sickly ragamuffin from the streets--with one large exception. His time spent as a print-shop apprentice has given him the ability to read and write, although his spelling tends to be as rough as his slang.

While not exactly an ability, it should be noted that Gavroche is extremely well-connected in terms of the streets and is more than likely to network extremely easily.

- ★ NETWORK SAMPLE: Nnnnnnnn.....

[ What a clever way to start the network. He's picking at the locket, though. Squinting at it, less like it might hurt him and more like one would look at an ant in a magnifying glass. ] I ain't understandin' summin' here, huh? The jewelry.

It helps to talk to everyone, or not talk to no one 'cause you can just shut it and bury it and this place is so big, ain't anyone gonna know you live here. I wanna know how it works. [ Tap, tap. Tap. ]

Everyon' listenin' can hear me, huh? Fairies an' goblins an' gnomes, that's all fairy tales, here? It's real. Maybe the locket is made-a the same stuff that brought us here.

[ A beat, and afterwards the sandy haired French teen leans back, frowns, and grunts. ]

I wanna go home, m'in the middle of fightin', huh?! For France. I'll fight here when I'm done there!
